BUCKET LIST : SURFING IN BALI

BUCKET LIST : SURFING IN BALI

Surfing in Bali : A dream come true. After all these years that I wanted to learn how to surf I made it happen and ticked it off my bucket list. And Bali was for sure the perfect spot for it, because it is a surfing paradise. I tried to get us into a surf camp but Melissa and I changed our plans and booked private lessons instead. On our first day we took a two hour lesson at Odyssee Surf School.

I wouldn’t have thought that TWO HOURS of surfing feels like running a marathon (Note: I didn’t run a marathon yet, but it is on my bucket list). I think you get the comparison. Our teacher did an amazing job though and I couldn’t have asked for a better way for us to learn the basics of surfing. It didn’t take us long before Melissa and I surfed our first baby wave.

surfing_in_bali_kuta_gitta_witzel_travelsurfing_in_bali_kuta_gitta_witzel_travelsurfing_in_bali_kuta_gitta_witzel_travel

But I soon realized that there is still sooo much to learn. Not only practical wise, but also theoretical. Therefore I might want to go into a surf camp soon. Because besides all the fun I never ever want to get into the situation where I have been on my fourth day of surfing or so. Where somehow I totally lost control of almost everything and had big trouble to get back to the beach. Even though it looks so easy you must not underestimate this sport, because it is pretty tough and can also be very risky.

Before flying back to Singapore we used every last minute of our stay in Kuta Beach to take some photo of us surfing. I can’t wait for me to ride a green wave, because surfing on this baby white waves doesn’t look so cool as the ‚real‘ surfer shots. But everyone starts somewhere :) I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I enjoyed surfing. And one thing is for sure: I will be back on that surf board.

Have you been surfing before? And do you maybe have any recommendations for a cool surf camp?

URBAN ROCKSTAR – HOW TO STYLE THE BAND SHIRT

URBAN ROCKSTAR – HOW TO STYLE THE BAND SHIRT

Wow – lately I couldn’t complain about boredom. You probably will agree that there are times where nothing much happens and then there are periods where things come thick and fast. Guess what?! Currently I don’t know in which direction to look at without it being changed. And when the workload seems to explode I feel like I don’t know where to begin and kind of freeze. Do you know this feeling? And your head is like ‚you have to do this, this and this‘, but your body is like ‚uhm, you better don’t do anything at all‘. So sometimes you have to kick a** like a rockstar to get things done. Because if you don’t do it who will?

Therefore I styled an outfit with one of the fashion trends this year : the vintage band shirt. I combined this vintage shirt with one of my new favorite midi skirts from Vila, put a hat on it and some ankle boots. How do you like this look?

CASUAL BUSINESS

CASUAL BUSINESS

Before showing you more of my travels around Indonesia I still have two looks I shoot back in Berlin. And since it is getting colder and colder these days here in Germany, it is almost impossible to put a #ootd Hashtag on Instagram hehe. So here is a very casual business look from when I was running errands around the city. I am a big fan of this cool but chic business look. Love to combine casual shirts with a blazer. Do you like this casual business look?

INTO THE LIGHT

INTO THE LIGHT

Hey guys! I still have some unpublished pictures from the shooting with Jennifer Becker for my collaboration with Roger & Gallet. We shot them right in time during a beautiful summer sunset in Berlin. The golden light as you would say – it is just magical. I wish this time of the day would be longer and always as beautiful as this. But before you know the sun already disappeared. For the look, well it is probably one of the most revealing outfits I have worn since my teenage years. It is very daring, but I wanted to style something very sensual for the fragrance, because that is my association with ‚wearing a perfume‘. I hope you like these pictures as much as I do. Go and check out Jennifer’s work for more beautiful photography.

SINGAPORE STOPOVER DAY TWO

SINGAPORE STOPOVER DAY TWO

Hello everyone! Even though we already arrived in beautiful Bali I wanted to share my impressions from Singapore with you. After my SINGAPORE STOPOVER DAY ONE post, you probably guessed it right : HERE IS THE SECOND DAY :P We walked through the shopping district on Orchard road, we passed Little India (where these funny umbrella trees were located) and later on watched the sunset at Marina Bay thereby we also discovered the Formula 1 circuit. As someone who really liked watching Formula 1 back in the days when Michael Schumacher still drove I really enjoyed being on that spot. At this point: #KeepfightingMichael

So, today we traveled from Seminyak to Ubud where we will spent approximately two nights in order to experience the healthy lifestyle in the middle of Bali, visit the Monkey Forrest and like Melissa keeps telling me ‚find our inner peace‘ hehe. Will see how this will work out ;)

SINGAPORE STOPOVER DAY ONE

Before we started our final trip to Bali, we stayed in Singapore for two days. Upon arrival we already walked 6.5 miles and checked out Chinatown, parts of the Singapore river and obviously the famous Marina Bay. We met up with my cousin and his travel buddy and watched the Wonder Fall, Southeast Asia’s largest light and water show. Here you’ll get an impression of our first day. See some real time experiences on my Instagram. x Gitta

BUCKET LIST : WATCHING THE SUNRISE IN LOS ANGELES

BUCKET LIST : WATCHING THE SUNRISE IN LOS ANGELES

04:30 wake up call. Honestly, I rather go to bed at this time than to wake up. But dragging myself out of bed at such an unsociablehour was probably worth every second I experienced afterwards. Melissa and I wanted to go to the Griffith Observatory in order to watch the sunrise in Los Angeles. So we put on some relaxed clothes and drove up to the observation deck. In retrospect you could have shot incredible outfits over there as seen later on Adam Gallagher.

Well, thinking properly isn’t my best quality in the morning. We arrived just on time and positioned ourselves with some other early risers to watch Los Angeles being covered in light. I wish I wouldn’t be that grumpy person I am in the morning and that it would be easier for me to get up at such a time. Because it is incredible what you can see, achieve and experience in the morning. But Los Angeles gives me such a load of energy that I might get used setting my alarm before 8am.

gitta_witzel_watching_sunrise_in_los_angeles_bucketlistgitta_witzel_watching_sunrise_in_los_angeles_bucketlistgitta_witzel_watching_sunrise_in_los_angeles_bucketlist

We should appreciate mother nature way more often as she presents us moments which are so precious and unique. Everything is so peacefully quiet, fresh and untouched in the morning. Once the first sunbeam hits the surface the city gets covered with a magical lightning and rightly is called the city of angels. You just feel that there is a fresh start and a new day full of possibilities lies ahead of you. Therefore I highly recommend you to experience this time of the day at Griffith Observatory and listed it to my bucketlist series on the blog. If you like my presentations I would like to introduce you my other experiences as well :  Watching the sunset at Horseshoe bend + Driving through Death Valley ansehen.

PS: By the way these pictures were shot before we crossed by the crazy pink Paul Smith Wall on Melrose and shot this outfit over there. Everything before 12 am – so productive.

Have a good start into the new week <3

ROGER & GALLET : SENSUAL SEDUCTION

ROGER & GALLET : SENSUAL SEDUCTION

In collaboration with Flaconi.de / Anzeige –

A perfume – that is probably one of the most recognizable features you can wear. It is like the invisible accessory you put on. The sense of smell and its relationship to emotional feelings is one of a kind. Like how many times has a certain scent brought back a million memories?

I must admit that I am kind of addicted to scents and I hardly ever leave the house without putting on one of my few fragrances. In this matter I am going for the more the better (sorry to my colleagues who said more than once that I am surrounded by a certain cloud of perfume). But I prefer to be remembered as the one who smells good than – well you know where this is going. Therefore I was so happy when Flaconi reached out and asking me to try the new product line by Roger & Gallet. Even though I already have some favorite fragrances I am always excited to try out new ones. Among the different fragrance lines I choose Gingembre Rouge (red ginger), which aroused my desire by the ‚vibrant and addictive fragrance that can be worn everyday‘ description. And I have not been disappointed. This scent is for sure on very fresh, energizing and light. Check out there other perfume collections HERE.

PINK WALLS AND WATERFALLS

PINK WALLS AND WATERFALLS

Shooting my outfit in front of a wall usually is not my style! But there is one wall who made it impossible not to use it as a photo location. We are talking about one of the most instagrammed walls in Los Angeles – THE PAUL SMITH PINK WALL on Melrose Ave. When we crossed the building by accident we immediately stopped for a quick outfit shoot. I changed into my A-line mesh dress from &other stories, wore one of the very few high heels I had with me on our road trip and my new cat eye sunglasses from Crush. This dress is very feminin, but since it is crafted from mesh, it still has that sporty appeal that I like so much. I started to gather a lot of dark blue pieces lately which is kind of obvious regarding this outfit post. Hope you guys like this look and are enjoying your Sunday to the fullest.

BUCKET LIST : DRIVING THROUGH DEATH VALLEY

BUCKET LIST : DRIVING THROUGH DEATH VALLEY

While being on a road trip Melissa and I drove through some impressive landscapes. One was for sure the Death Valley which we passed on our way to Las Vegas. And this brings me right to my next point of my bucket list series here on the blog. If you might remember I have already suggested you this experience which was really mesmerizing. Driving through Death Valley was certainly not less exciting, so it is definitely worth considering if you find yourself traveling through the country. We didn’t leave the car for too long, because oh boy it was hotter than hell. Haven’t experienced such a heat in … uhm forever. Why I chose to wear all black that day – one very reasonable question. You know these people who always opt for the wrong outfits. Yes, I am one of them. I hope you enjoy these photographs! Have you been there yourself already, if so what was your experience like!?

SILVER CRUSH

SILVER CRUSH

After my last blogpost I thought it was time for a solid outfit presentation. But before I start talking about my look, I’d like to set focus on this awesome shooting location. Christina and I took these images at the meanwhile defunct Berlin Tempelhof Airport. I have been living in Berlin for more than four years now and also had a great time over there either it was for work or leisure. What I love most is the fact that this place is being used for various events since it is such a multifunctional location. Because there is something fascination about airports, isn’t it?

GITTA_WITZEL_SILVER_CRUSH_MARBLE_PRINTED_OUTFIT GITTA_WITZEL_SILVER_CRUSH_MARBLE_PRINTED_OUTFITGITTA_WITZEL_SILVER_CRUSH_MARBLE_PRINTED_OUTFIT-14

But now let’s talk fashion. Today’s look is a little homage to silver. Because literally not all thaglitters is gold ;) If you remember my outfit post from Vienna, you have already seen me wearing this shirt dress which I absolutely admire, since it is so ‚different‘. Not only length, design and fabric wise were so convincing, but also the price was unbeatable. So I got hold of this beauty during last summer sale! Every year heaven is a place on earth once you hardly see anything else than discounts and sale advertisements. This makes it almost impossible to resist. Unfortunately that also means that there are a lot of people in the same shopping mood and I am no big fan of long shopping tours through the city, especially when I am not the only one. Thereby I prefer centered places, digital or in the real world, where I am able to purchase as much as possible. What do you think of these online shopping malls?

BUCKET LIST : WATCHING THE SUNSET AT HORSESHOE BEND

BUCKET LIST : WATCHING THE SUNSET AT HORSESHOE BEND

You’ve probably heard by now that there is something called the ‚Bucket list‘. It can be described as THE most important to-do list of your life and lists all your dreams and goals which you would like to accomplish before you die. Ok, death is a topic no one likes to think or even talk about. But well, we can’t deny that eventually the day, when we will leave this beautiful earth will come. For some sooner or later, but it is inevitable. So of course most of us have certain dreams or plans they want to realize before that day comes.

HORSESHOE_BEND_SUNSET_GITTA_WITZELHORSESHOE_BEND_SUNSET_GITTA_WITZELHORSESHOE_BEND_SUNSET_GITTA_WITZEL

As the list is every individuals wish list of life dreams, no list will be the same. So I don’t want to present you a collection of points in order to have lived a happy life like the articles about ‚100 things to do, 66 places to see, bla bla bla‘ intent to say. But rather give you inspiration for developing your own, because bucket lists can definitely change over time. That is why I will start this new blog series ‚Bucket list‘ from now on and presenting you guys moments, places, activities or what so ever, which were of great significance to me and might as well be to you.

In this post I am introducing you to the moment of watching the sunset at Horseshoe Bend in Arizona. Honestly, it wasn’t exactly on my ‚Bucket list. But thinking back I experienced something really mesmerizing.  Prior our road trip I didn’t even know about this place which is located near Page town in Arizona. The location itself is already really impressive, but seeing the sunset at the horizon from the UNPROTECTED! steep cliff  from where there is a 1,000-foot (300 m) drop to the Colorado River. Hell yeah was I scared, but it was worth it every second! Hope you enjoy these pictures as much as I enjoyed this beautiful moment. And I can only recommend to experience the same thing once. All the best! x Gitta

PS: I am very curious if you already have a bucket list and if so, what’s on it? Please let me know in the comments area.
